Hathaway joins the ranks of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry who have both portrayed the iconic character in previous big screen outings.

Pfeiffer positively sizzled as Catwoman in Tim Burton‘s Batman Returns, while Berry, well, she was about as popular in that role as a fart in a space suit.

Hathaway as Catwoman? Yep, I’m in!
Inception star Tom Hardy’s role in the Bat sequel has also been announced.

Hardy will play Bane, the muscled-up villain last seen in 1997′s disastrous Batman & Robin.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” Nolan said in a statement.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” Nolan said in a statement.

Hathaway won the coveted role over Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley, who both also tested for the part as Batman’s frenemy.
